In addition to his Patrol Officer responsibilities, he worked as an evidence technician and photographer.Ĭhief Warner joined the Derry Township Police Department in March of 1988. In September 1985 he was hired full-time by South Londonderry Township Police Department in Lebanon County. Immediately after graduation from the Police Academy in April 1985, he was hired part-time and started work for the Highspire Borough Police Department at the age of 19.

He passed entry into and paid his own way through the 32nd Municipal Police Academy at Harrisburg Area Community College. During that time, he developed an interest in the field of Law Enforcement. One of his first jobs, like many teens living in Hershey, was at Hersheypark, eventually working in the Security Department. Chief Warner graduated from Hershey High School in 1983. Both of his grandfathers worked in the Hershey Chocolate Factory and his grandmother worked for the Milton Hershey School.

In summary: serving as a school volunteer now requires you to give more than just your time helping in class and more than ever we appreciate those who are willing to volunteer. Volunteers at DTSD are required to undergo Mandated Reporter training approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and provide proof of successful completion of that training every 60 months (5 years).įinally, volunteers are required to have a Tuberculosis (TB) test and provide a copy of the official results to the school district before working with students. In addition, state law now includes volunteers as among those who are deemed “mandated reporters” of child abuse and neglect.

Derry Township School District volunteers must provide updated certifications every 60 months (5 years). Pennsylvania law now includes more stringent requirements for checking the background of those in contact with students these provisions apply to employees and volunteers. These changes have a direct impact on our valued volunteers. The continued safety of our students is a top priority and in compliance with recent legislative changes (Act 44, 45 and 153 of 2014) DTSD has updated our school board policies.
